Project Description

The Amateur Championship

Nestling on the shores of the Moray Firth lies one of Scotland’s finest Golf Courses

We started work with Nairn Golf Club in October 2020. They had been getting by doing their social media in house but were struggling to keep a consistent feed due to limited hours in the day.

Nairn Golf Club is a scenic Links Golf course situated on the Moray Firth Coast in the Highlands. Established in 1887, the golf club has hosted many historic events including the Walker Cup, Curtis Cup and most recently, The Amateur Championship.

Nairn wanted to continue the work that had been done on their social media and during the COVID-19 pandemic, target golfers in the UK market with offers due to restrictions on travel from overseas.

A consistent feed with a variety of posts including offers, about Nairn’s history, and organic posts about what is happening at the club have made Nairn have a consistent, professional news feed which has impressed their memberships and their management team.

What they say…

“Last November we outsourced the delivery of our social media to 18Players to push out consistent content for Nairn Golf Club. We had tasked 18Players to deliver an increase in audience sizes, increased engagement, increased web traffic and ultimately more bookings and enquiries. They have delivered on all fronts and we are delighted with their professionalism and customer service”

“This was evident at this year’s Amateur Championship held at Nairn Golf Club where our social media content and delivery was complimented by our membership, visitors and the R&A”

Colin Sinclair, CEO of Nairn Golf Club

The Amateur Championship

Nairn were proud hosts of the 2021 Amateur Championship, the R&A’s flagship Amateur event.

Unfortunately, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, there was limitations on crowds being allowed to the event and only members of Nairn were allowed to watch at the course meaning there was a huge opportunity to showcase the event through the golf club’s social media channels alongside the R&A.

We supplied daily coverage from Monday to Saturday including build up to the event and closely followed stories throughout the week, such as Nairn member Calum Scott making a charge to the Quarter Finals, the course record being broken by Matthew Clark and the all important final which saw one of the greatest matchplay comebacks in the history of golf.

A fantastic week’s coverage resulted in praise not only from Nairn’s members and management team but the R&A.
